Common Faults and Solutions for Computerized Heat Shrink Tubing Cutter

This machine adopts a fully digital intelligent control device, operated by buttons, and can be arbitrarily set for cutting length/quantity, feed speed, with accurate cutting precision, low consumption, and ergonomic design, making operation simple.

Widely used in the electronics industry (shielding materials, adhesive materials, insulation materials, conductive materials), tubing processing industry, wire harness processing industry, automotive and motorcycle parts industry, rubber processing industry, tape, zipper, electrical appliances, motors, lighting, toys, transformers, clothing, and other industries. Below, Bangqi Chuangyuan, the automatic tubing cutting machine manufacturer, will introduce the common causes of failure and solutions for computerized heat shrink tubing cutters.

Common Causes of Faults and Solutions for Computerized Heat Shrink Tubing Cutters

Failure to start due to alarm at startup:

Due to inertia, the upper cutter stops at different positions, causing a large starting torque at the top dead center, resulting in overload alarm. Solution: Turn off the power first, loosen the screw adjusting the cutter slide rail, then start the machine, adjust the screw to the appropriate tightness during operation, and then turn off and on again for confirmation. If it still cannot start, open the front cover, rotate the eccentric wheel to change its position, and it should start.

Normal startup, but alarm during operation:

The cause is that the slide rail of the cutter is too tight at a certain position or severely worn, causing an overload alarm during operation. Refer to solutions one and three.

Common alarm faults:

During batch pause, the buzzer will intermittently sound to indicate batch pause. When the batch pause time is over, the buzzer will automatically stop sounding.

In the event of abnormal cutting, the buzzer will sound intermittently and the upper right corner of the screen will display “Knife Abnormal”. Pressing the “Stop” button at this time can cancel the buzzer alarm.

Unable to shut down when pressing the shutdown button:

The reason is a program error. The solution is to turn off the power and restart the machine, then perform a factory reset (different machines have different operations, here is just an example): press the function key/number key 4 (F4 appears on the display)/confirm/start.

Stepper motor does not rotate:

Testing and analyzing the reasons: Pressing the “+” or “-” key, the motor does not rotate forward or backward.

The stepper motor only rotates in one direction:

Possible fault: The stepper motor drive is direction-pulse type, only rotating in one direction, indicating a problem with the direction signal of the driver or a fault with the driver itself.

Solution: Please check the connection between the motherboard and the stepper driver/if the driver is faulty, please contact the vendor.

The stepper motor does not rotate in both directions:

Possible fault: Check if there is an indication of power supply on the stepper driver.

Solution: Check the connection between the driver, motherboard, and stepper motor/If the problem cannot be solved, please contact the vendor.

Cutter operates but feed wheel does not:

The reason is a program error. Solution is the same as three. Another reason is that the triangular belt of the feed wheel drive transmission is broken. Open the outer cover to check and replace it.

Inconsistent lengths of cut tubing:

There are many reasons:

1. Improper adjustment of the pressure roller; materials with high elasticity should have less pressure, while those with low elasticity should have more pressure.

2. The feed wheel is dirty or contaminated with foreign objects.

3. The feed wheel has grooves worn out; for harder materials (e.g., kraft paper rope), it is advisable to use grooved steel wheels.

4. Excessive resistance from the material rack. For materials without a rack, a homemade horizontally rotating material rack works better.

Uneven cutting with burrs:

The reason is that the cutter is worn out; replace the cutter. The removed cutter can be reused after grinding.

Failure to feed:

The reason is that the slide rail is too loose, and the upper cutter stops at a position that is too low, obstructing the feed. The solution is to tighten the adjustment screw of the slide rail slightly to raise the position where the cutter stops.

Pressing the start button does not initiate operation:

It may be that the count has reached the set value of production. Clear the value and then restart.

Abnormal noise during operation:

The reason is severe wear of the slide rail, causing significant swinging of the cutter frame during operation. It is necessary to replace the slide rail and cutter frame. Another reason is vibration of the pressure roller, which can be eliminated by wrapping tape around the shaft head of the pressure roller to eliminate its radial gap horizontally.
